January-I found out I was pregnant just one week into the new year. It was a bit of a surprise since we had planned on a late fall/winter baby. Four days later I ran my second marathon at Walt Disney World. We spent the week after the race vacationing in Florida. Also in January Anastasia lost her first tooth!
February-Ainsley turned three and we celebrated with a family party. Our beloved beta fish Dorothy died an was buried in the back yard on a cold February night. I think the cat misses her most of all. We heard the Allie's heartbeat for the first time. I threw a baby shower for my sister-in-law who was expecting a girl. After her shower I felt comfortable sharing our expecting news. In late February I left my job at WBIR after seven years and accepted a new position at a local hospital in their marketing department.
March-I started my new job at the hospital. The girls hunted Easter eggs and we welcomed spring with a trip to the zoo. Anastasia started soccer again and I coached (I use the term "coach" loosely. I ran the Knoxville Marathon 5K towards the end of the month.
April-We celebrated Easter in a tornado ravaged Murfreesboro with Chris, Anna, Nana and Granddad. We found out we were expecting another GIRL! Soccer continued in earnest as the weather improved.
May-We wrapped up soccer and registered Anastasia for kindergarten. She had a preschool "graduation" too. Memorial Day weekend brought an unexpected trip to Florida for the birth of our niece Isabelle Grace. It was a whirlwind, but it was a blast!
June-We welcomed summer with our pool on the back porch and trips to the fountains downtown. Anastasia and Ainsley spent a whole week with Nana and Granddad and Anastasia went to day camp at Buffalo Mountain Camp.
July-We celebrated Independence Day in Jonesborough and watched the fireworks in the front yard. Jamie and I celebrated 8 years of marriage. We also traveled to Camp Lookout for the Maynard reunion weekend.
August-Anastasia started Kindergarten. I produced the Friends of the Smokies telethon. My friends at work threw Allie a baby shower. My family drove in to surprise me for my 29th birthday.
September-Allie arrived on the 10th and we became a party of 5. Ainsley stopped going to school and stayed home with Allie and I. Anastasia started soccer again and had a real coach this time.
October-More soccer, the Storytelling Festival, field trip to the pumpkin patch, and trick-or-treating at the zoo. Halloween at home in the pouring rain!
November-Anastasia turned 6 and we celebrated with a gymnastics party. I ran in my first 5K since having Allie. Allie was baptized just a few days after Thanksgiving which we spent at home as a family of five. It was low-key and perfect!
December-We spent a lot of December traveling to be with family. Jamie earned his yellow belt in tae kwon do. Allie played baby Jesus at the Walk Through Bethlehem at our church. Ainsley was a stable girl while I was Mary! We got to see the first real snow of our girls' lives when 6+ inches fell at Nana and Granddaddy's the weekend before Christmas. We spent Christmas at home and then drove to Chattanooga the day after to celebrate more. Now we're wrapping up '09 and looking forward to the next 12 months!
