Yesterday started out terribly dreary, but by mid-morning the sun had broken through the clouds and plunged us into a very warm and beautiful day. Not wanting to waste such a gift, the girls and I loaded up and headed for the Foothills Parkway.
We started with a picnic.
Then we did some exploring. 
We had hoped to hike up to the Look Rock observatory but both the tower and the trail were closed. We decided to drive more of the parkway before turning around and heading for home.
I forget how quiet it is once you get away from the traffic. We only passed a handful of cars the whole time we were up there. Cyclists easily outnumbered the motor vehicles today and it was wonderful!
The girls had a great time and are eager to get back up there and go to Look Rock once it re-opens.
