As I mentioned yesterday, the kids and I decided to kick off Anastasia's spring break with a trip to the Knoxville Zoo. The weather was amazing - sunny and warm - the perfect (almost) spring day.
We stopped first at the black bears followed by the penguins. Then we hit up the Wee Play Zoo which is just perfect for younger kids. They can pretend to be vets, shovel fake poop, create their own zoo and get food together to feed the animals. That's what Allie liked best. Well, that and climbing on a stool to reach the food.
We ate a fabulous picnic lunch overlooking the zebras. Although, as the girls pointed out, perhaps downwind of them wasn't such a good idea.
So many of the animals were out and active!
My animals were pretty active themselves.
Her sisters enjoyed the sandbox for a while too but then abandoned it for loftier pursuits like the slides and web climber. It was a perfect day with my girls. They were all well-behaved and such a joy to be with. We're looking forward to returning to the zoo once the weather warms up for good so we can enjoy the camels and the bird show. Those were closed for the season yesterday. I told the girls it gives us something to look forward to when we return!
